Lead Extended Day Teacher for Early Childhood & Teaching Assistant

Roycemore School seeks a full-time hourly Teaching Assistant Teacher & Extended Day teacher for the remainder of the 2022-2023 school year.

Essential Functions

  • Possess a holistic view of children, have an understanding of the developmental needs of early childhood children and a willingness to work with and learn from an experienced teacher.
  • Be able to work with small groups and individual students assigned by the teacher.
  • Support the classroom teacher in daily activities and preparation.
  • Accompany the children to their special teachers.
  • Participate in lunch and recess supervision.
  • Prepare materials and classroom for Extended Day Programming
  • Plan and conduct activities for a balanced program of instruction, demonstration, and work time that provides students with opportunities to observe, question, and investigate.
  • Collaborate with Lower School EDP teachers.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the Early Childhood and Lower School Division Head.

Qualifications

  • Early Childhood Education Degree; preferred or an Associates Degree in Early Childhood Education or Child Development. 
  • Experience with early childhood children.
  • Patience, maturity, and a love of young children.
  • Competence in connecting with students and to help create a healthy classroom community.
  • Excellent communication skills, sound judgment, and emotional maturity. 
  • Ability to take direction from supervising teachers and staff.
  • Ability to work cooperatively with other teachers and assistants.
  • Ability to relate effectively with children and their parents.
  • Ability to ensure the health and safety of the children in your care.
  • Comfortable using online texts, iPads, Learning Management System, and computer systems
  • Working knowledge of Macintosh operating systems
  • Experience with G-Suite (Google Apps) for Education (preferred)
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality 
  • Commitment to inclusion and issues of social justice and equity
  • Ability to use basic office equipment
