FAQ
What does a P3 Project look like?
P3 projects are diverse and tailored to each student's passion. For instance, a student might develop an invention to address a problem related to their passion or create a visual art piece reflecting on an experience tied to their interest. The project is designed to encourage curiosity, experimentation, and ownership by allowing students to explore their passions in a self-directed, open-ended way.
What is the P3 Class?
Students meet weekly for coaching to support their project. The goal is to help students discover their authentic passion but exploring their values, strengths, and interests. During this time, students will also practice planning, making schedules, and writing professional communications to a project consultant who shares their passion. In Q3, students will have devoted class time to implement their projects, practice presentation skills, and to prepare for Experience Week and the P3 Expo.
What is Experience Week?
Experience Week varies for each student, but generally involves applying their passion in real-world settings. Some students might volunteer at local organizations while others participate in Roycemore-organized field trips. Students will also have time to finalize their project artifacts and presentations. They will work with their teacher to create a schedule of activities for the week, which must be approved by faculty and a parent/guardian.
How can I contribute to the P3 process?
Engage with your student about their passion and how they are developing their project based on their values, strengths, and interests. If you know someone who shares their passion, consider connecting them as a mentor. If you're interested in participating on a larger scale, consider sharing your expertise by being a mentor for students.
