Notes on the
assignments:
For #1-
You will need to do
some
additional research to get a full picture of what the impact was of the
Mongols
on the different cultures. You should be able to write at least a half
page on
each groups interaction with the Mongols.
For #2-
Look at the
different ways
the peoples mentioned in the three chapters conducted warfare. Look for similarities in tactics, units, and
styles. Come up with a way of showing
how they were similar and how they were different.
For #3-
A copy of this book
should be
available at a local library. Some of
the stories included in this work are Ali Baba and the 40 Thieves,
Aladdin’s
Wonderful Lamp, and The Seven Voyages of Sinbad the Sailor. Read them, summarize them, and make sure to
relate what this tells about the society that it focuses on.
For #4-
Chose a major
person from
each of the three chapters. Develop a
drawing of a coat of arms that shows several different important parts
of their
life. Then include a detailed
explanation about why you chose them.
For #5-
The list should be
organized
clearly and you should include the major contributions of each
individual.
For #7-
Come up with a list
of the
different people from the chapter. Then
create a book showing their image or something that represents them and
a brief
summary (2-3 sentences) of why they were important.
For #8
Look at all of the
events
listed in each of the three chapters.
Assess which event was most important to that culture. Then describe why you chose that event.
For #9-
Look at the
different
architectural styles of the Byzantines, Slavs, and early Islamic
cultures. Come up with examples that
represent those
styles then compare and contrast them.
