Project Choices

 

Write 3 or 4 half page diary entries from the perspective of someone who traveled with Lewis and Clark.

Perform a one person 3-5 minute presentation for the class, in which you act as one of the early pioneers (like Boone, Pike, or ….) and tell the class what you accomplished and about your life.

Make an illustrated ABC book focusing on people, places, and things from the United States from the years of 1789 to 1850. Include a couple of sentences detailing why the things you chose were important.

Complete a Venn Diagram comparing and contrasting the policies and viewpoints of a Federalist (like Hamilton) and a Democratic-Republican (like Jefferson).

Research a law that was found to be unconstitutional, explain why it became a law, and how it was overturned by judicial review.

Rank the presidents from Washington to Polk by listing their accomplishments and problems and explain your rankings.

Develop a series of three advertisements trying to get people to move West. Make sure to cover different aspects of why a person would want to move there.

Research what happened to one Native American group from the years of 1776-1850.  Some possible groups include:  Cherokee, Creek, Seminole, or Blackhawk.

Write about the War of 1812 from the perspective of an American, a British soldier, and a Native American.  Each perspective should be one page.

Research what people took with them when they moved West between 1800 and 1850.  Then come up with 25 things you would chose to bring if you moved West during that time period and why you would bring each thing.

Come up with your own idea and get approval from Mr. Montgomery

Develop a series of posters detailing how life changed for people after the inventions of each of the following: the cotton gin, reaper, telegraph, steamboat, and railroad
